The beaches of Noirmoutier Island are particularly well-suited to shore fishing. At low tide, the foreshore reveals a multitude of species: burrowing shellfish in the sand (clams, cockles, razor clams) and shellfish or crustaceans attached to the rocks.

For amateurs, a bucket and a small landing net are sufficient, but more experienced fishermen will appreciate dedicated tools: clam knife, oyster shovel, scraper…

Recreational fishing requires a minimum of common sense and respect:
